Meet Valary Chidwick
Feldenkrais Practitioner in British Columbia, Canada
Welcome. I am happy that you have found my site.
I have long been curious about the many ways of understanding the human body. I started my educational journey in Biology (BSc) at McMaster University, Canada and continued to graduate work in Medical Anthropology (MA, University of Toronto, PhD (abd) York University both in Canada). From an anthropological perspective, I was always humbled and curious about the many ways health, healing, wellness and the human body were understood.
I came to the Feldenkrais method almost two decades ago to deal with daily pelvic pain in any movement. Giving birth to three children took a toll on my body. The Feldenkrais method helped me “organize” myself to find ease in movement again. My journey with the Feldenkrais Method was in stages. First, I learned to be aware of how I was getting myself into a “pickle” (pain). Second, I learned how to help myself get out of my “pickle”(relieve pain). And finally, through refining my abilities and more self-awareness, I learned how not to get into the “pickle” in the first place. My focus changed from one of pain to ease.
We all have lived experiences that have created habits in our movements that may not serve us well and cause discomfort. It is possible to change these habits and find more ease. We can change the story we tell ourselves and refine our abilities to move more easily and with less discomfort.
My interest is helping others find more ease in their movements. When we move with ease we feel at ease.
Ready to move with more ease, awareness, and confidence?
